Saturday 27th February 2010 - Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Demo and Press Response and Free Vegan Food Stall in Broadmead
Today 6 activists from Bristol Animal Rights Collective ( BARC ) and Bath Animal Action ( BAA ) held another protest outside Noah's Ark Zoo Farm. Once again we were treated to a warm response from passing motorists who beeped in support, which was nice. Once again the owner Anthony Bush came out to talk to us...about his religion amongst other things, which wasn't so nice. We stopped at least one car going in simply by handing them a leaflet and talking to them. The numbers of visitors to this crummy and failing backwater zoo were pathetic and it was fun to watch the buzzards and talk to each other for ages on end without being interrupted by having to leaflet anyone going in the zoo. Its enjoyable and exiting to play our part in closing down this animal abusing institution. We were joined by a photographer from the Bristol Evening Post who have been covering all the farcical goings on at this 'zoo farm' and a interview with one of our group members was aired on the radio earlier in the day. Here's the link to that story ... Join us again next week - same time , same place, please get in touch if you want to come along. Meanwhile, the rest of the group hit Broadmead shoppers to show them what a varied range of vegan food is on offer, and to push the message that being vegan saves lives. The next BARC vegan outreach stall will be on Saturday 3rd April. Please let us know if you would like to help out!

Saturday 13th February 2010 - Demos Against Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Continue (and will do most Saturdays)
Noah's Ark Zoo Farm decided to celebrate Valentine's Day with a themed day at the zoo, so we thought it would be rude of us not to be there too. It was clearly not a popular event, visitor numbers were down on last Saturday, which wasn't many to begin with. Despite newspaper reports claiming 300 people were there last Saturday we know the true figure was a lot lower (we saw about 50 cars go in), perhaps they included the staff and the animals when they did the head count. Friday 29th January 2010 - Astra Zeneca Demo
Activists braved snow and wind to let Astra Zenaca workers at the Avonmouth site know that we won't let them forget about the animals inside Huntingdon life Sciences (HLS), the largest animal laboratory in Europe. We sent them home for the weekend with a clear reminder of exactly what their company is involved in at Huntingdon. They were made to think about their companion animals at home, and how they would feel if they were the subject of experiments at HLS. We also reminded them of the financial trouble that Astra Zenaca is in, the thousands of lay-offs and the fact that they are being sued by 14,000 people in the US over the side effects of their antipsychotic drug Seroquel. We won't go away Astra Zenaca, until you pull out of HLS and stop subjecting innocent animals to painful and pointless experiments.

continue...
Cruise was once again met with no less then 10 activists
demoing with plaquards and leaflets right outside it's door.

of our megaphone at the two entrances on either side of
Cabot Circus leading to Cruise. Meanwhile, while the fur demo was happening, BARC also

7 February 2009 - Vegan Outreach Stall in Broadmead Despite a week of blizzards and ice, Broadmead was surprisingly
busy for the BARC free food stall on 7th February. We had
a positive response from shoppers, who were happy to stop
and taste a range of free vegan food samples including donations
from Alpro Soya, Bute Island Foods and Clives Pies. Other
food included carrot cake, ginger snaps, choc orange muffins,
"cheese" straws, sausage rolls, vegan quiche,
chocolate truffles and chocolate cake. We also gave away
some very welcome soya hot chocolate to warm people up.
As usual, people expressed surprise that cake can be made
without eggs, and about the range of food vegans can eat.
We gave away quite a few leaflets and recipes.
10 January 2009 – Vegan Food Sample Stall
The average meat eater eats thousands of animals in their

step to saving animals lives. This was the motivation behind
the Bristol Animal Rights Collective (BARC) food sample
stall on Saturday 10th January. Read more...

19 December 2008 - Bistro No. 5 takes foie gras off the menu
Well done to Bath Animal Action for continuing a short,
but lively campaign against Bistro No. 5 in Bath who sell
the bloated liver of force-fed geese, otherwise known as
foie gras. Foie gras is outlawed in this country as it is
seen as so cruel. However, it is still imported into this
country to satisfy people's dinner plates. On Friday 19th
December, Bistro No. 5 agreed to take foie gras off the
menu. Another example of how public pressure can really
make a difference in fighting animal cruelty. If you are
free to attend anti foie gras demonstrations on Friday evenings,
please contact us.

If you notice any restaurants in Bath or Bristol selling
foie gras, please complain to them, and also let
us know. |
