Wednesday 22nd September 2010 - Demo Against Willmott Dixon's Bristol Office
On Wednesday 22nd Sept, members of Bristol Animal Rights Collective paid another trip to Willmott Dixon's office in the city centre. There were only a few of us, as most people were at work (contrary to popular belief and anti-protest propaganda!) but for two hours we made enough noise for a much larger protest.
Many passersby were interested and came over to look at our graphic new posters and to take our leaflets. One older man came to offer his support and helped himself to the megaphone. He informed the workers inside Willmott Dixon he'd spent '22 years in the army'. He said they shouldn't test on innocent animals, that they should come out and test on him, and if they did he'd 'kick them in the bum'!!
Supporters from other offices came out and started shouting the chants they remembered from our previous visits. One or two workers who share the same office building as Willmott Dixon complained they couldn't work while we were making so much noise. We told them to take up their complaint directly with the animal abusers. While we may sympathize and don't want to cause inconvenience to companies who aren't building torture chambers for animals, we are not going to sit by and do nothing while animals are dying in pain and agony. An hour or two of noise is nothing compared to what these animals are forced to endure, and until Willmott Dixon ends it's involvement in the construction of this hell hole we will return to remind them and their neighbours that you can't profit from animal abuse and expect a quiet life. |
